Please note: Construction work at Helvetiaplatz

From late August to mid-October 2026, BERNMOBIL will be replacing the tram tracks on the lower section of Thunstrasse, whilst the City of Bern will be raising the kerb heights at tram stops to ensure barrier-free access to public transport. During the construction work, replacement buses will operate on routes 7 and 8. Route 6 will be suspended between Bern railway station and Egghölzli. Disruption is to be expected.

Getting here

We would recommend that you visit our museum by public transport. Because we have no parking spaces to offer you, we would advise against travelling by car.

By public transport: From Bern railway station by tram no. 6 (direction “Worb”) or tram no. 7 (direction “Ostring”) or tram no. 8 (direction “Saali”) to “Helvetiaplatz” stop. Turn left and walk approximately 300 metres, past the Historical Museum (Helvetiastrasse).

By car: exit the motorway at Bern Ostring and drive towards Thunplatz. Continue to Helvetiaplatz. Unfortunately, the museum has no parking facilities.
