Planetopia – Space for World Change
The ecological crisis affects us all. It is high time that we faced up to the environmental challenges and entered into a wide-ranging discussion. What solutions can be devised? What would be effective? What would make sense? We would like to invite you to join us in our exploration of what responsible living will look like in the future. Let us create space for global change!
The project
Pop-ups in summer 2022
Exhibition from 13/11/2022-23/7/2023
The ecological crisis is a massive challenge. Glacial melting, overheated cities, the decline in insect populations, extreme weather – there is no end to the negative headlines. And we are paralysed watching it...
The time has come. The Museum of Communication has made room for global change! As a public place with tens of thousands of visitors, we recognise our social responsibility and want to be part of the ecological discourse.
It is high time to hold a broadly based discussion and choose to take a positive approach. We want to join forces to find realistic and effective solutions for responsible living in the future. Starting as a participatory project with pop-ups and events (summer 2021/2022), and crystallising in a space for global change (exhibition from 13/11/2022-23/7/2023) the project will hopefully remain a source of inspiration beyond its closure date.
You can book guided tours for groups (no school classes) here.

Pop-ups
In the summer months we leave our museum bubble and get on the road with pop-ups in search of dialogue on the ecological crisis with people from outside the museum.
In summer 2021 we were on the road with the Ricklin brothers’ ten commandments vol. 2 , discussed carrots at the weekly market in Bern and reported the Furkapass glacier as missing.
In the coming months we will get on the road with three pop-ups:
- At Adrianos Coffee & Playground at the train station in Bern (July and August 2022): We will stage an intervention right beside the Meeting Point and invite you to have fun engaging with the topics nutrition and consumerism. Please do pop in – even if you don’t consume anything!
- At the market in Langnau (20th July and 21st September 2022): The Chüechlihus regional museum is giving us an opportunity for a guest performance in Langnau. We are eager to speak to people who live outside of the city and to discover other ways of looking at things.
- Badi Reiden (18th-21st August 2022): Sunscreen, French fries, a blue pool and a green lawn... We will take the summer feeling and make it the basis for our dialogue. We look forward to hearing new insights and having interesting conversations.
