PTT archive

The PTT archive preserves the history of Post, Telegraph and Telephone in Switzerland. It's the historical  company archive of Swiss Post and Swisscom.

The PTT archive maintains over 5000 linear metres of original documents. At the core of the collection are the original documents on the foundation of the Federal Post in 1849 all the way to its liberalisation in 1997. There are also selected collections from cantonal posts starting from the 16th/17th century.

The special academic library thematically supplements the archive with 2000 linear metres of books, brochures and periodicals. The topics that form its focus are Post, Telephony, Telegraphy, Telecommunications, Transport and New Media.
