The doctor

Haller enjoyed an excellent reputation as an internationally recognised physiologist, anatomist and doctor. Patients and medical colleagues wrote from all over Europe to ask him for advice. Thus Haller referred the almost blind Philippe-Ferdinand Bergier to the Parisian eye specialist Jacques Daviel. Through his exchanges of letters across Europe, Haller knew about Daviel's new and successful method for treating cataracts.

The example of the Swiss medical call centre "Medgate" shows how a long-distance medical consultation works in accordance with today's demands, standards and legal requirements.

In our Museum Shop you can buy "Mr von Haller's balsamic Alpine herbal tea" (recipe reconstructed from Haller's letters).
